when to travel
With two distinct seasons this abundant landscape is a paradise for nature enthusiasts all year. In the dry season, while in flood, animals and birds bask in the bounty of this pristine aquatic ecosystem, and in the wet season, a plethora of migratory birds descend from the north on the verdant, green landscape.
how to get there
You’ll begin your journey to Atzaró Okavango Camp in Maun, Botswana, where daily flights land from Cape Town and Johannesburg. From here, a wildly scenic 20-minute private helicopter charter will transport you to the heart of the Okavango Delta where we eagerly await your arrival.
what to pack
On charter flights, soft-sided luggage weighing up to 20kg or 44lb per person is allowed. We recommend packing lightweight, neutral-colored clothing that is versatile for day and night.
Climate and temperatures
Fluctuating temperatures in the Okavango Delta offer distinct experiences throughout the year. Summer is known as the green or wet season and is from November through to April. Winter lasts from May until October, and although considered the dry season, this is when the Okavango Delta experiences its magnificent seasonal flooding.
